Big Canoe Adventure Excursions

Discover the beautiful Ottawa River, get fit, and make new friends with Big Canoe Adventure Excursions.  Hosted by the Ottawa New Edinburgh Club (ONEC) and led by experts, these guided thematic tours explore historical, Indigenous, and natural sites of our nation’s capital while teaching participants to master a big canoe. Take one of the regular Big Canoe Adventure Excursions outlined below or organize a group tour/special event.

  • Parliament Buildings
  • Indigenous archeological sites
  • Prime Minister’s residence
  • Sunken ship
  • Lakes, lagoons and beaches on Upper Duck and Kettle Islands

Big Canoe Excursions

The following paddling tours operate from early June to early October:

Evening Sunset Paddles

  • 1 ½ to 2 hours – Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

Voyageur Paddles

  • 3 ½ to 4 hours – Saturdays and Sundays

Morning Leisure Paddles

  • 1 ½ to 2 hours – Wednesdays and Thursdays

Special Long Weekend Canoe Trip in Parc La Vérendrye

  • To participate in a canoe trip, you must join ONEC as a social member
