I just wanted to thank everyone for your friendship and kindness over the last 3 years. My assignment in Ottawa ends on Wednesday and we head home to the UK (via Newfoundland!) with great memories of our 3 years in Canada. I'm lucky that my work has taken me all over (from Halifax to Victoria to Cold Lake to Alert) and I've done lots (hockey, dog sledding, ice fishing, portaging...) and I've met so so many people!
Without exaggerating ONEC has been a highlight of the last 3 years. After a 25 year rowing sabatical, Norma and Bern took me under their wing and patiently helped me through learning to row; since then I've loved my early morning outings on what must be one of the most beautiful, idyllic places to row in the world.
If ever anyone finds themselves in the UK looking to row, or for someone to share coffee or a beer with, please look now further! I have lots of rowing friends who would be delighted to be of service.
ONEC is a special club, keep smiling and keep sculling! It's been a privilege to be part of your amazing Club.
Best wishes to you all, Doug
Bye Doug. Glad to have met you. The whole club us coming to your place next year!!
