In cooperation with Max Finkelstein, renowned cross-Canada canoeist and river conservationist, ONEC Paddling is offering an opportunity for canoeists to upgrade their skills, become a Paddle Canada certified ‘big canoe’ Leader, and participate as a guide in a ‘Medicine Paddle’.  The Big Canoe Skills Intermediate Leader course will be held at Smith Falls on Saturday, May 28th.

Pre-requisites: good tandem canoeist who knows several strokes, e.g., j-stroke, draw

The normal price is $100, but everyone who commits to lead in the ‘Medicine Paddle’ on July 1 gets a 50% discount.

What does the leader do?  

Helps with canoe logistics, captains the canoe to Governors Bay – this could be with ONEC paddling members, leads a least tours between to Rideau Falls while ‘managing’ the crew.  Participates in Chief Pinesi Day celebrations at New Edinburgh Park in the afternoon.
