About Sail
ONEC
You do not need to own a boat to enjoy sailing all summer long!
ONEC Sailing provides dinghies for members to use at no additional cost than the basic sailing membership.
You do not need to know how to sail. ONEC provides training for new members at no additional cost
than the basic sailing
membership.
Our new member training program is the cornerstone of our sailing program. By becoming a member, you will be able to participate in our Learn to Sail program. The lessons are provided to adult members by experienced sailors and it is a great way to meet club members.
Once you are qualified as a skipper, you will be able to borrow club boats (without any supervision).

SailONEC provides a structured training program for adult members from May until the end of July. It is comprised of both basic theory and practical skills segments. Experienced, certified skippers provide training to new members under the direction of the head instructor.
The goal of the program is to train new members to a level at which they are competent to act as skippers and take club boats out on their own.
2024 training program is fully booked

CAMPS
ONEC operates a sailing camp for youth between the ages of 9 and 17. The students receive quality instruction stressing safety, fun, and learning. They are introduced to many different elements of sailing, safety practices, and seamanship. They will develop new skills in boat handling and sailing for both fun and competition.
Sail Canada certified instructors teach trainees, and successful trainees receive Sail Canada certificates from CANSail 1 to CANSail 4. We emphasize safety and low student-to-instructor ratios in accordance with Sail Canada guidelines. With our flexible week-to-week program, your child can move up through the levels as the summer progresses.
The camp operates in 1–4 week modules from July to August. There are a limited number of spaces.
Youths’ skills and experience are evaluated on the first day of camp, and an appropriate boat is chosen for them. Beginning sailors will be taught on the two-person Pico or the three-to- four person CL16. More experienced trainees will sail on RS Fevas, Lasers or Laser 2s.
