In cooperation with Max Finkelstein, renowned cross-Canada canoeist and river conservationist, ONEC Paddling is once again offering an opportunity for canoeists to upgrade their skills and become Paddle Canada certified ‘big canoe’ leaders for guided tours.

In cooperation with Max Finkelstein, renowned cross-Canada canoeist and river conservationist, ONEC Paddling is offering an opportunity for canoeists to upgrade their skills, become a Paddle Canada certified ‘big canoe’ Leader for guided tours. There may be opportunities to participate as a guide during the summer, in a ‘Medicine Paddle’ or other excursions. The Big Canoe Skills Intermediate Leader course will be held at Smith Falls on Monday, May 22nd 2023.
Pre-requisites: strong tandem canoeist who knows several strokes, e.g., j-stroke, draw
The price is $125.
What does the leader do?
Helps with canoe logistics, captains the canoe and leads tours, for example to Rideau Falls, while ‘managing’ the crew. Potential opportunity to participates in Chief Pinesi Day celebrations at New Edinburgh Park in the afternoon of Canada Day if volunteer for the Medicine Paddle that day.
