Charleston Lake is nestled in the heart of the UNESCO Frontenac Arch Biosphere.  On Saturday June 3 and Sunday June 4, OAR will explore this beautiful, rocky, forested lake for the first time as a tour.  14 kms long and over 6 kms wide, it is full of islands, coves, reefs and some of the clearest water in Ontario.

Saturday morning, we plan to launch from Charleston Lake Boat Launch (part of the Cataraqui  Region Conservation Authority) at Charleston  Village.  Launch times will be confirmed closer to the tour.  We will explore around the islands of the western part of the lake covering approx 15 kms in total, with a stop for a picnic lunch.  We will return to our launch site that afternoon.

Sunday we will again launch from Charleston Lake Boat Launch but will make our way  along the eastern shore of the lake, past Charleston Lake Provincial Park to take the boats out at the Outlet Launch at the southern end of the lake.  A picnic lunch will be provided.  We will row a total of approximately 15 km.

Some of the tour participants will be staying Friday/Saturday night at Lakeline Lodge at Charleston Village.  Some cottages are being held for us but only until March 20.  After this date, there is no guarantee of availability.

All tour participants are required to help with unloading/loading the boats from the trailer and rigging/derigging the boats before launch and on Sunday afternoon.

All tour participants are required to be members of OAR, either through your home club or as independent members.

Tour fee:  $90
