About the Event

The Burnstown Rowing Club’s Head of the Madawaska Regatta takes place on the first Sunday after Labour Day every year. It has become a popular event for rowers across Eastern Ontario because of the picturesque setting, wonderful rowing river and relaxed atmosphere.

Location

The regatta takes place in the quaint village of Burnstown, at the Burnstown Beach (#1537 Highway 508) — an easy one-hour drive northwest of Ottawa. There is ample parking on the site, and the towering Burnstown bridge that crosses the Madawaska River just before the finish line provides an excellent viewing area for observers.

Regatta Details

Singles, doubles, fours and eights are welcome to take part in the head races. Three races are offered (approximate times):

  • 9 a.m.: three kilometres
  • 11 a.m.: 4.5 kilometres
  • 1 p.m.: 3 kilometres

Whether you are a novice or a seasoned competitor, you are sure to enjoy the experience. The emphasis is on having a good time.

Coffee and muffins, etc. are offered to participants at no charge in the morning. A BBQ lunch is available, for a small fee.
