About the Event
Pre-requisite: Step Two: Skills Consolidation
Coaches: Sherry Dolan & John Moore Three classes of 1.5 hours each.
In small groups of 5 people you will continue to develop your rowing skills, and acquire new knowledge to help you feel comfortable in a racing shell. There will be a focus on learning to feel body and boat movements with emphasis on good posture to help with boat balance and injury avoidance.
There will be three sessions each focusing on developing your foundational boat handling and rowing skills covering the entry, drive, release and recovery. You will be practicing in both racing singles and doubles. There will be a strong focus on safety as it pertains to rowing in a racing shell along the Ottawa River.
At the end of Step 3 you will be well acquainted with the ONEC racing shell fleet. Once you've completed all three lesson plans, we'll place you with a rowing mentor who will be able to continue to help you develop your skills until you are ready to take the skills assessment required to be able to book racing shells at ONEC.
