About the Event
Background: Cornwall Rowing Club’s season begins in April and ends late in November. ONEC has been discussing a partnership agreement whereby ONEC rowers can extend their season by rowing out of the Cornwall club as often as they want, for a significantly reduced fee. Experienced rowers who have paid their membership may participate (there is no coach support and no oversight after the intro session).
Location: The club has two locations: 1) Guidon park (opens in April) and 2) Cornwall Canal (opens on May 01 and is approx 2km straight and narrow)
Cost: ONEC membership (note you must have paid your 2024 ONEC rowing membership so you are covered under ONEC insurance) + $100 via either cash or cheque (to give to the Cornwall Rowing Club Director at the intro session)
Dates and times:
- All rowers need to attend an ‘intro session’ whereby the Director of the Cornwall club introduces rowers to the equipment and facilities and does a quick assessment of rowing skills.
- A maximum of 6 people can attend an intro session. Assuming the weather cooperates there is an intro session at Guidon park on April 13 (4 spots remaining) and April 14 (6 spots remaining). Start time 10am. Additional dates may be added depending on demand and rower's availability.
- The intro sessions at the Canal starting on May 01 haven’t been set yet. Dates will be added once available.
- After the intro session rowers would be able to use the Cornwall facilities as desired for the rest of the season.
Equipment: mix of singles, doubles and quads. ONEC isn’t bringing any of our own equipment. The Cornwall club has limited lifejackets so it is recommended to bring your own if you have one.
