To combat this invasive insect, we need volunteers to “adopt” one or more trees on the Club grounds.  Adopting means coming as frequently as possible over the next few weeks, between 4 and 7 pm if possible, to remove the caterpillars from under the burlap that has been placed on our affected trees.  Removal requires you to bring a container (like a large yogurt container) filled half-way up with water and a few drops of dish detergent, into which you should brush the caterpillars  using an old toothbrush, tweezers, or a stick.  It is important to wear gloves as the caterpillar hairs are an allergen and can cause a rash.
