Hi Masters,
Official sunrise isn't until 7 am now. We will meet at 630 am and then get on the water as the sky brightens. Lights are still Important. This our last week of organized morning practice.
It will be a short row so let's work on one complicated concept, turning the oar with your fingers!
Focus on keep wrists flat and using your thumb and fingers to feather and square.
After warm up, row with your baby finger extended, then ring finger extended also. Now try holding and turning the handles using only your index finger and thumb. This drill forces your hand open to relax your grip and demonstrates proper handle control.
Blisters and calluses will appear on you thumb and fingers, not your palms.
Good luck,
Sherry
Sounds like an excellent drill. I’ll be trying it while I’m rowing at the cottage tomorrow morning.
