Love to hate Jan erg workouts
Happy almost 2025 everyone........for anyone about to kick off the New Year by participating in the January Erg Challenge, here are three erg workouts that I love to hate (taken from or inspired by Dark Horse rowing). Guaranteed to add some serious metres to your tally. Enjoy! (SR= Stroke rate)
1) 60 min at SR 20. Every 5 min row :30 at max effort with a SR of 30+. Then back down to SR 20.
2) 3 x 2000m, 1 min rest btw rounds. SR 20
3) 12 rounds, as written below. 45 sec rest btw rounds.
1200m @ SR 20;
1100m @ SR 21;
1000m @ SR 22
900m @ SR 23
800m @ SR 24
700m @ SR 25
600m @ SR 26
500m @ SR 27
400m @ SR 28
300m @ SR 29
200m @ SR 30
100m @ SR 30+
Bonus: Pick your favourite mountain. Eg: Mount Logan, Height- 5,959 m. 'Climb' up the mountain on the erg, 2 min rest, and then climb back down! That's a cool 12k in the books.
