For all the changes that happen around us in life there are some constants and one of those is the way to move a rowing boat across the water in an enjoyable and efficient manner. Over the centuries changes in blade and boat design have altered some aspects of technique but it is still refined down to three elements; blade entry to the water, blade exit from the water and movement of the body in between strokes. I have been so lucky in my life to have worked with amazing coaches and rowers who have taught me how to understand these elements. I will do my best to pass on this knowledge to you in a way that will allow you to discover the joy of stroke making for yourself.

I have coached all aspects of the sport. I can say with total confidence I have coached from 8 to 80 year old rowers and from complete novices to Olympic medallists of every colour! From that experience I became aware that those 3 elements are universal to the activity and in sliding seat rowing are transferable to any type of boat. I have worked in many provinces in Canada and at a number of clubs, universities and schools. I understand the joys and limitations of rowing in Canada. I consider myself an athlete centred coach who understands that there are a myriad of ways to get to the same result; enjoyment of rowing through efficient rowing strokes and confidence on the water.
