Campers will also be introduced to the particular canoeing skills and teamwork needed for ten people to paddle a 24 foot Rabaska, Voyageur style, Canoe as they paddle together from the River House to Rideau Falls. The kayaking camp program also offers campers the opportunity to learn basic skills and have fun on Stand-up Paddleboards (SUPs). Pre-requisite: Ability to Swim Details: SailONEC provides a structured training program for adult members from May until the end of June.  It is comprised of both basic theory and practical skills segments. Experienced, certified skippers provide training to new members under the direction of the head instructor. The goal of the program is to train new members to a level at which they are competent to act as skippers and take club boats out on their own. Each class is 1 1/2hrs long for a total of 4 classes over 4 weeks, with the 5th week either being a rain date or an introduction to Quad rowing. Through personalised instruction, you will refine your rowing technique. You will learn to row safely on the Ottawa and near-by rivers. There is also an optional 1 1/2 hr practice session offered on Monday evenings at 6:30pm. Pre-requisite: Successful completion of Intro to Rowing or a year of sculling at another rowing club.
