We focus on teaching the stroke, proper hand levels, boat manoeuvring, and boat care/equipment. Five classes of 1 ½ hours plus one ‘rain date class’, over a period of three weeks.

Pre-requisite: Ability to Swim Details: SailONEC provides a structured training program for adult members from May until the end of June.  It is comprised of both basic theory and practical skills segments. Experienced, certified skippers provide training to new members under the direction of the head instructor. The goal of the program is to train new members to a level at which they are competent to act as skippers and take club boats out on their own. Kayaking Day Camp with Voyageur Canoe and Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) Beginner and Intermediate, Kids aged 11 to 17 Participants learn kayaking skills according to the Paddle Canada Waterfront Kayak Skills program. Skills include how to get in and out of kayaks safely at the dock, basic strokes, safe water exit and assisted re-entry into a kayak from the water, as well as general skills for fun and safe paddling! Campers will also be introduced to the particular canoeing skills and teamwork needed for ten people to paddle a 24 foot Rabaska, Voyageur style, Canoe as they paddle together from the River House to Rideau Falls. The kayaking camp program also offers campers the opportunity to learn basic skills and have fun on Stand-up Paddleboards (SUPs). Campers improve their balance and coordination while perfecting the strokes and playing camp games! ONEC day camps are offered from July to August. Tennis Day Camp Beginner and Intermediate, Kids aged 7 to 17 Every camper learns stroke basics, game strategy, footwork, and sportsmanship! The camp is run in a safe and structured environment by responsible and mature tennis instructors. ONEC’s day camps are a great way to get your child interested in tennis or to build on the skills they already possess. Campers are assessed on the first day and grouped according to their level of play. Even Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams don’t play tennis all day long. At ONEC, we offer structured off-court activities that complement the tennis program every morning and afternoon. Activities include Frisbee golf, capture the flag and other forms of active and quiet play. ONEC day camps are offered from July to August. Sail Canada certified instructors teach trainees, and successful trainees receive Sail Canada certificates from CANSail 1 to CANSail 4. We emphasize safety and low student-to-instructor ratios per Sail Canada guidelines. With our flexible week-to-week program, your child can move up through the levels as the summer progresses. Youths’ skills and experience are evaluated on the first day of camp, and an appropriate boat is chosen for them. Beginning sailors will be taught on the two-person Pico or the three-to- four-person CL16. ONEC day camps are offered from July to August. Register your child for a full week, two full weeks or more (each week must be booked separately). By the end of 10 sessions, new rowers should be able to safely navigate the Ottawa River in a single scull with 2 oars. With a maximum of 5 in a class, under the guidance of highly skilled coaches, participants should: > Be able to demonstrate basic rowing skills, including how to safely launch and return the boat by themselves > Be able to explain basic sculling safety, including Ottawa River navigational patterns, when it is safe to row, and what to do in an emergency > Be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the ONEC electronic systems to book their own boats, connect with others to row safely and report any damage to the equipment. > And feel confident enough to safely traverse the Ottawa River.
