- 2026 Kayaking Camp
Kayaking Day Camp with Voyageur Canoe and Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) Beginner and Intermediate, Kids aged 9 to 17 Participants learn kayaking skills according to the Paddle Canada Waterfront Kayak Skills program. Skills include how to get in and out of kayaks safely at the dock, basic strokes, safe water exit and assisted re-entry into a kayak from the water, as well as general skills for fun and safe paddling! Campers will also be introduced to the particular canoeing skills and teamwork needed for ten people to paddle a 24 foot Rabaska, Voyageur style, Canoe as they paddle together from the River House to Rideau Falls. The kayaking camp program also offers campers the opportunity to learn basic skills and have fun on Stand-up Paddleboards (SUPs). Campers improve their balance and coordination while perfecting the strokes and playing camp games! ONEC day camps are offered from July to August. Register your child for a full week, two full weeks or more (each week must be booked separately). Refund Policy: Refunds are subject to an administrative fee of 10% and will not be granted within two weeks of the start of the session. In the instance that camps are cancelled, a full refund (minus any additional credit card charges) will be given.

No experience is necessary, as this Intro to Kayaking clinic will start with the basics, including getting in and out at the dock safely and reviewing basic paddling strokes. The clinic will introduce assisted re-entry ("buddy rescue"). - 2026 Learn to Sail (Saturdays)
Pre-requisite: Ability to Swim Details: SailONEC provides a structured training program for adult members from May until the end of June. It is comprised of both basic theory and practical skills segments. Experienced, certified skippers provide training to new members under the direction of the head instructor. The goal of the program is to train new members to a level at which they are competent to act as skippers and take club boats out on their own. After an introduction to Big Canoe strokes, participants learn how to paddle together as a team as we embark on a trip into nature and history on the Ottawa River. Open to all members, guests and public. Price is $40 (+13% HST) = $45.20 A minimum of 4 participants is required for the excursion. If we do not have enough participants, we will offer to reschedule your excursion to another date (or refund you). Meet outside the ONEC Waterfront Room on the lower level in the N.C.C. River House. After crossing the bridge, go round left side of building and down outside back stairs to lower level. The ONEC room is on the right at the bottom of stairs. Eligibility: Adults and accompanied children 12 years and older; No canoeing experience is necessary, but everyone is expected to paddle. Equipment: Paddles and PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices) are provided. Bring water and snacks as well as weather appropriate items, e,g, sunscreen, sun or rain hats, rain jackets. Cancellation policy: Cancellation by client: prior to 48 hours, refund minus $10 processing fee per client / within 48 hours, no refund unless the place can be filled. Cancellation by Club due to weather or any other unforeseen circumstance: full credit for another excursion or refund.

Kids will have fun learning a new sport (or improve on the skills learned last year), discover the amazing Ottawa River, and make new friends! Day campers are taught by trained coaches and receive an achievement certificate. For rowing, ONEC accepts a maximum of 10 campers at a time, so reserve your child’s spot now! Above pricing includes HST Pre-requisite: Ability to Swim Coach: Susan Smith You will learn basic sculling technique and practice balance in small sculling boats. We focus on teaching the stroke, proper hand levels, boat manoeuvring, and boat care/equipment. Five classes of 1 ½ hours plus one ‘rain date class’, over a period of three weeks.
