Evening snowshoe program
A friend of mine asked me to share this info in case anyone here might be interested: 2026 Weekly Snowshoeing Program Information
Program Basics: Geared towards beginner and intermediate snowshoers who would like to get out more often or explore new trails but don’t want to go alone, this program consists of six evenings of guided snowshoeing, each with a rest period dedicated to light social interaction.
Outings will include a campfire where possible and an end-of-season potluck social at Brown’s Cabin in Gatineau Park.
Where: Six different routes of approximately 4.0 to 7.0 kilometers within the very beautiful Collines-de-l’Outaouais region of Québec, mostly within Gatineau Park. If that distance seems like a lot, consider that an average snowshoeing pace is 3.0 to 4.5 km/hr and that most of these outings will take place on trails that have already been packed-down by other trail users.
When: 6:30pm on Thursday evenings, beginning January 15th, with each outing lasting approximately 1.5 – 2.0 hours. (A little longer for the end-of-season potluck social at Brown’s Cabin.)
Required Equipment: Your own snowshoes, headlamp, appropriate warm outerwear, appropriate boots or leg gaiters, and water bottle (insulated is best). Optional: walking poles and your favourite snacks.
Skill Levels: If more than 12 registrations are received, participants will be able to choose between a beginner and an intermediate sub-group, while still being able to enjoy social interactions as one whole group by the end of the outing. If 12 or fewer registrations are received, the route and the pace will accommodate the abilities of the beginner participants, increasing slightly in difficulty from the start to the end of the program.
Cost: $90 for the six-week program.
Deadline for submission of this registration form accompanied by full payment of the $90 program fee is January 9th, 2026.

Thanks for sharing this Deb. Brown’s Cabin holds a special place in my heart: ‘twas not far from there that I had my first solo “meetup” with a black bear last summer. 🐻 💕
