MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
ONEC has again partnered with Nature Conservancy of Canada to cleanup our beloved Kettle Island on Saturday, September 13 at 9:00am*. Along with lead org Nature CC and other partner orgs, we’ll inventory species (“Bioblitz”) & remove litter from the island. In 2024, we helped remove over 1320 lbs of litter from the island!
ONEC paddling/rowing have reserved some kayaks, both T7s, and the T6 for the day. There are only 5 spots in rowing shells: dual paddling/rowing members can also take kayaks. Subject to availability, ONEC members who aren't paddling members may be able to use kayaks for the day.
If you’d like a spot in one of the rowing shells, please say so when you message me (see below). If you have your own kayak/SUP, you can launch it from the public side of the Riverhouse (you still need to register for the event).
Steps to register:
Send me a direct message via the ONEC app (or email) & I’ll send the registration link provided by Nature CC. Indicate what boat you’d like to be in (e.g. one of the reserved shells, one of the reserved kayaks, another ONEC kayak/SUP to be booked by you, or your own boat).
More information available in the attached PDF.
Hope to see you there!
*The event will run until 3:00pm but, as long as you/your boat can make it back to ONEC safely, you can leave earlier if needed.
**The rain date is Sunday, September 14; registering for September 13 does not mean you’ve also committed to the rain date, though this would be ideal.

Hey Jenn, any chance there is a spot left in either a reserved kayak or a rowing shell, or can I book a kayak and join in still?
