Ironman Canada in Ottawa on Sunday
In case you are not aware, Ottawa will be hosting it's first Full Ironman Canada event on Sunday. "The IRONMAN Canada-Ottawa event will start at 6 am with a 3.8-kilometre swim at Britannia Beach followed by a 180-kilometre bike ride through local neighbourhoods. It will wrap up with a 42.2-kilometre run around Parliament Hill. Participants have 17 hours to complete the event – a full day of adrenaline!"
There are a number of road closures, including Sir George Etienne Cartier Parkway. As a former triathlete myself, who completed Half 70.3 Ironman races, this is a really big deal. These athletes have worked really really hard to get to this day and really need your understanding and support of these road closures, and they would not mind some cheering along the way too. 😀

Plus everyone, please don't forget about the Fireworks starting Wednesday, July 30 on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. too much motorized boat traffic to have a rowing scull out there...and watch out for their barges that are the launching sites if you head up towards ORC. great fireworks though.
