The CSM is Aug 24th.......Volunteers needed
The 20th anniversary of the Canadian Sculling Marathon(CSM) will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025. It’s a BIG year for ONEC - this will be the first CSM run out of the refurbished NCC Riverhouse. We have rowers registered from Brazil, New Zealand, Nova Scotia and Detroit as well as 16 rowers from ONEC.
This is ONEC Rowing’s premier event of the season and it all runs with volunteers. We need to hear from you by Monday August 4, 2025.
Norma Strachan (nstrachan@bell.net) is recruiting now for the following teams:
Safety boats – looking for people with their Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC) as well as spotters for shifts to keep the rowers safe. Training will be provided. The lead has committed to having each boat stocked with goodies!
People willing to help with the following:
Getting the ONEC equipment ready for the ONEC crews
Lift boats off the trailers on Saturday afternoon, Aug 23 and then back on after the event Sunday morning to mid-day.
Rig and derig boats
Moving boats around on the docks during the 42 KM crew rest and restore breaks
Running the Celebration BBQ on Sunday Aug. 24
Move light equipment back and forth between the launch site and Riverhouse both Saturday and Sunday
Welcome the out of town crews and help them to enjoy their ONEC experience. They always compliment us on how hospitable we are so this is a good team to join.
We’ll be setting up as of noon Saturday, Aug 23 so reservations will be closed on the Boat Reservation system through to the afternoon of Sunday August 24.
And if you have been sitting on the fence about registering for either the 21 KM or 42 KM events, see ONEC website for full details. Registrations close August 15, 2025.
